local.descriptionSeaweed production in the island-province of Guimaras will get a boost from the latest partnership of the provincial Government of Guimaras, The Department of Agriculture Philippine Rural Development Project (PRDP), and the Sabang Seaweed Growers Association (SSGA). The LGU Guimaras, the DA-PRDP, and the association are the lead proponents of the P18.5-million Guimaras Seaweed Production and Marketing Project to be funded by the World Bank, with counterpart funds from the national and provincial governments, and with equity from SSGA. According to May Ann Grajo, I-REAP component head of PRDP-RPCO-6, the project is expected to benefit 403 seaweed growers in the towns of Nueva Valencia, San Lorenzo and Jordan.en
