The Philippine capital has been named one of the key cities in the 30 Cities Program of The Ocean Cleanup (TOC), a global initiative aimed at drastically reducing plastic waste flowing from rivers into the world’s oceans. The program, spearheaded by the Rotterdam-based non-profit, seeks to deploy its Interceptor™ technologies in 30 strategic cities across Asia and the Americas by 2030. “We are pleased that The Ocean Cleanup is bringing its science-based solutions and impactful programs to the Philippines,” Ambassador J. Eduardo Malaya said during a diplomatic briefing hosted by TOC on October 30 at the Carlton Ambassador Hotel in The Hague.en
