The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) said on Tuesday that it has secured an alleged underwater drone recovered by local fishermen off Linapacan in Palawan amid continuing reports of unauthorized foreign research and surveillance in Philippine waters. The device, measuring about 12 feet long, was discovered on Sept. 28 by fishermen from Sitio Tapic, Barangay New Colaylayan. It is now kept at PCG Station Linapacan for technical examination and investigation in coordination with national security agencies. Initial inspection showed the presence of a Conductivity-Temperature-Depth (CTD) sensor, a standard oceanographic instrument used to measure seawater salinity, temperature and depth.en
