The Masinloc and Oyon Bay Protected Landscape and Seascape (MOBPLS) in Zambales was recognized during the 2025 Para El Mar Awards held in Iloilo City. It won first place in the Outstanding Locally Managed Marine Protected Area category. The MOBPLS covers more than 7,500 hectares across Masinloc and Palauig towns and is the only legislated marine protected area (MPA) in the region under Republic Act 11038 or the Expanded National Integrated Protected Areas System Act of 2018.
