The Southeast Asian Fisheries Development Center, Aquaculture Department (SEAFDEC/AQD) achieved another breakthrough in milkfish farming by harvesting two tons of market-sized fish in just 85 days, cutting the usual culture period by almost half. Milkfish (bangus) typically require four to five months (120–150 days) to reach approximately 440 grams, an ideal market size. But at SEAFDEC/AQD’s Dumangas Brackishwater Station (DBS) in Iloilo, the grow-out period was shortened through the use of probiotics and high-protein feeds during the first 30 days of culture.en
