Owners and crews of 29 fishing boats in the province of Iloilo were slapped with sanctions and complaints for using trawl within the municipal waters of San Dionisio, Concepcion, Carles, Estancia and Barotac Viejo earlier this month. Trawl fishing is prohibited 15 kilometers from the coastline of any municipality in the country under Section 90 of Republic Act 8550 (Philippine Fisheries Code of 1998).
