The Department of Agriculture (DA) on Friday reiterated its support for the ratification of the Agreement on the Conservation and Sustainable Use of Marine Biological Diversity of Areas Beyond National Jurisdiction (BBNJ) — also known as the High Seas Treaty. The international pact, adopted in 2023 under the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea, promotes the sustainable use and conservation of marine biodiversity in areas beyond national jurisdiction, including the open seas.
