The Pasay City government partnered with SM Smart City Infrastructure Development Corp. and Pasay Libertad Anglers Association in a coastal cleanup along the Libertad Channel and nearby shores of Manila Bay to help prevent flooding. The cleanup, held on Friday morning, Aug. 15, sought to remove trash that could block waterways and pose health hazards to residents. Pasay Mayor Emi Calixto-Rubiano said improper waste disposal — from small pieces of litter to large items like refrigerators and sofas — worsens flooding during the typhoon season by obstructing water flow.en
