The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) has condemned China for what it called “unlawful interference” in the Bajo de Masinloc, or Scarborough Shoal, resulting in the collision of its own vessels on Monday, Aug. 11, 2025. DFA made a statement on Tuesday, Aug. 12, a day after the incident where two Chinese vessels collided with each other while chasing a Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) ship. DFA Spokesperson Angelica Escalano said the “dangerous maneuvers” by People’s Liberation Army Navy (Plan) ship 164 and the China Coast Guard (CCG) ship 3104 posed grave danger to both the Philippine personnel and vessels.en
