PH crop output surges in Q2 2025, but livestock, fisheries take a hit

The Philippines posted a robust increase in agricultural crop production in the second quarter of 2025, with total volume reaching 22.04 million metric tons — up by 41.6 percent from 15.56 million metric tons recorded in the same period last year, latest government data showed. Sugarcane emerged as the biggest driver of the surge, recording a staggering 341 percent year-on-year growth. Palay (unhusked rice) and corn followed with production increases of 13.9 percent and 27.3 percent, respectively.
