    Excerpt
President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. has signed a bill into law that officially declares Paoay Lake a Protected Landscape, ensuring the long-term conservation and sustainable management of the area. The new law was primarily authored by Ilocos Norte Second District Representative Angelo Marcos Barba, who stressed the need to protect the lake from environmental degradation, illegal activities and unregulated development. “Paoay Lake is not only a symbol of natural beauty, it is part of our identity and heritage as Ilocanos,” Barba said. “This law is a commitment to preserve this treasure for our children and their children, while promoting eco-tourism, scientific research, and community-led conservation.”
