The Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Central Visayas (BFAR-7) has imposed a shellfish ban at Siit Bay in Siaton, Negros Oriental, after detecting toxic microorganisms in the area. BFAR-7 director Mario Ruinata said laboratory analysis on water samples collected on June 10, 2025, confirmed the presence of Pyrodinium bahamense, a harmful dinoflagellate that causes paralytic shellfish poisoning.
