    Excerpt
Over 70 fisherfolk from across Central Visayas were recognized this week not only for their daily contributions to food security but also for their entrepreneurial skills and cultural talents, as the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) 7 concluded its month-long celebration of Farmers and Fisherfolk Month. Held at the BFAR 7 office in Cebu City on Thursday, May 29, 2025, and Friday, May 30, the culminating event featured regional contests in poetry (balak), quiz bee, poster-making, singing, cooking and net mending — a platform to showcase the creativity and skill of fisherfolk beyond the sea.
