Authorities intercepted and seized an illegal fishing vessel off Bantigui Island in Carles town as part of Iloilo Province’s intensified campaign against destructive and unregulated fishing practices. A seaborne operation conducted by the Iloilo Provincial Patrol – Bantay Dagat Task Force on May 17 led to the apprehension of the fishing vessel F/B Seahorse and its captain for engaging in illegal fishing using the banned Danish Seine method — commonly referred to as “super hulbot.” The operation, carried out using Provincial Patrol Speed Boat No. 1, targeted the waters near Barangay Lantangan, Carles.
