An agriculture group is urging the Department of Agriculture (DA) to provide small boats and other equipment to fisherfolk affected by Typhoon Odette instead of pushing for more fish imports. In a statement yesterday, the Samahang Industriya ng Agrikultura (SINAG) called on the DA to provide equipment for small fishers so they can set sail again. “Give them bancas so they can fish and clear measures on where and when they can fish. Don’t blame Typhoon Odette and the closed fishing season just to push for imports,” SINAG chair Rosendo So said in Filipino.en
