dc.description | The Philippines, an archipelago comprised of 7,641 islands and islets, is highly vulnerable to climate change and the degradation of its coastal ecosystem due to various factors that make the country more vulnerable to strong typhoons, tsunamis, storm surges, and sea-level rise. More than half of the country’s population lives in coastal cities and municipalities, and millions rely heavily on the bounty provided by nature by the sea. To strengthen the country’s coastal ecosystem, the Zoological Society of London (ZSL) recently launched the National Blue Carbon Action Partnership (NBCAP) with the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR). | en |
