China's Southern Theatre Command Navy claimed that a Philippine Navy frigate had "illegally intruded" into the waters surrounding Bajo de Masinloc (Scarborough Shoal), in what Beijing described as a "serious violation" of its sovereignty and domestic laws. In a statement released late Sunday evening, the Chinese navy said it had "monitored and warned off" the Philippine vessel after it entered the disputed maritime zone. The Chinese military accused the Philippines of engaging in "infringement and provocation" and called on Manila to "immediately cease all such actions."en
