    Excerpt
A commercial fishing vessel from Victorias City, Negros Occidental, was intercepted on Thursday, March 20, 2025, for allegedly engaging in illegal fishing activities within the municipal waters of Santa Fe, one of the three towns on Bantayan Island in northern Cebu. The operation was conducted by Bantay Dagat personnel and local police after a local fisherman reported that his fishing nets were damaged by the vessel. According to a statement released by the Municipality of Santa Fe on Sunday, March 23, despite challenging sea conditions on the day of the operation, authorities successfully apprehended five individuals aboard the vessel.
