The Department of Agriculture (DA) is keen on establishing solar-powered ice plants to minimize spoilage and post-harvest losses of farm goods. Agriculture Secretary Francisco Tiu Laurel Jr. said this would boost food supply efficiency while potentially increasing the income of farmers and fishers, particularly in remote regions. “By introducing ice early in the supply chain—from farm to storage, or even directly to market—we can extend the shelf life of produce,” Laurel said in a statement.en
