To determine the variety of local species present, assess their distribution and evaluate their potential for propagation, the Bantay Dagat Commission recently conducted an assessment of the mussel and oyster populations at Pond A in South Road Properties, Cebu City. Marine biologist Jhon Ismael Catalonia Fernandez, chief diver Phedias Capulong and personnel from the commission’s operations branch led the assessment. This effort is part of a broader sustainable livelihood initiative aimed at benefiting local fisherfolk.
