    Excerpt
As reported by this paper yesterday, the Visayan Sea, an essential fishing ground for Western Visayas, has once again opened its waters to commercial and small-scale fishermen after the annual three-month closed season. This measure, designed to protect vital fish species such as sardines, herrings, and mackerels, shows the region’s seriousness to sustainable fisheries management. With the closure having ended on February 16, stakeholders should prioritize responsible fishing practices to ensure the long-term health of this rich marine ecosystem.
