Oil spill: US Coast Guard arriving for cleanup
Excerpt
A contingent of the United States Coast Guard (USCG), along with its air assets, will arrive in the Philippines today to help in the ongoing cleanup of the massive oil spill in Oriental Mindoro, Malacañang said yesterday. The Presidential Communications Office (PCO) quoted Department of National Defense (DND) Senior Undersecretary Carlito Galvez Jr. in a statement released on the expected arrival of the USCG contingent. “We are looking forward to the arrival of the entire US Coast Guard contingent for the additional technical support in our disaster response operations,” the DND officer-in-charge was quoted as saying.
