A business leader in Bacolod City, Negros Occidental has described the recent Supreme Court (SC) ruling that allows commercial fishing within municipal waters as the final blow that will kill the fishing industry. Frank Carbon, chief executive officer of the Metro Bacolod Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MBCCI), told SunStar on Sunday, Feb. 16, 2025, that thousands of small fishermen will be affected of this ruling or they might lose their livelihood.
