Various institutions underscored the need to protect and conserve the precious and essential wetlands ecosystems during the World Wetlands Day (WWD) 2025. Leading the country’s celebration of WWD 2025 with the theme “Protecting Wetlands for Our Common Future” at the Sibugay Wetland Nature Reserve in Zamboanga Sibugay, was the Department of Environment and Natural Resources-Biodiversity Management Bureau (DENR-BMB) The national celebration was highlighted with a ceremonial tree-planting and awarding of the certificate as a Wetland of International Importance, or Ramsar Site certificate, to the provincial government of Zamboanga Sibugay.
