    Excerpt
To boost the seaweed industry, the Department of Agriculture’s Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources in Region 1 (BFAR1) recently launched a seaweed nursery on the island town of Anda in Pangasinan province. The Regional Seaweeds Nursery is an offshoot of a 2-hectare seaweeds nursery which the BFAR1 has been maintaining since 2019 as an experimental area for production. BFAR officials noted that the site was converted into a nursery since it was found to be feasible for seaweed production and has become a good source of seaweed cuttings for fisherfolk who are starting their own seaweed farm.
