    Excerpt
Another oil spill is being monitored in the province of Batangas following the sinking of a fishing vessel Sunday morning which was carrying thousands of liters of diesel, according to Protect Verde Island Passage on Monday. The group disclosed that the fishing vessel, which was carrying 70,000 liters of diesel when it sank off the coast of Calatagan sparked fears of another oil spill as the area — part of the internationally acclaimed biodiversity hotspot Verde Island Passage — still struggles to recover from the MT Princess Empress tragedy that spilled 900,000 liters of industrial oil exactly six months prior.
