The Philippine Coast Guard on Tuesday dismissed apprehensions that the Anita DJ II which sunk in the vicinity waters of Calatagan last Sunday may cause an oil spill similar to what happened at Naujan, Oriental Mindoro a few months ago. In a television interview, PCG District Southern Tagalog commander, Commodore Geronimo Tuvilla, maintained that the sunken vessel, reportedly carrying 70,000 liters of diesel, cannot incur hazards as the chemical can easily dissipate once exposed to sunlight.
