The Department of Agriculture on Sunday revealed that its officials have yet to determine the population of salt farmers in the country to provide them the proper and sufficient aid for reviving their industry and set a growth target for local salt production. According to the DA’s Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources, officials are working with various government agencies to achieve those goals under its Development of Salt Industry Project. “To identify the beneficiaries, the BFAR and the National Fisheries Research and Development Institute conducts profiling and assessment of existing salt producers and salt processors in coordination with the provincial fishery offices and local government units,” the DA-BFAR said.en
