Angat Dam starts releasing water
Excerpt
Operators of Angat Dam in Bulacan yesterday started releasing water to reduce the reservoir’s elevation to a safer level. This developed after the elevation increased by 2.52 meters above Angat’s normal high water level of 212 meters. In a text message to The STAR, Maria Teresa Serra, manager of the National Power Corp. (NPC)’s flood forecasting and warning system division, said the dam’s spillway gates were opened at 3 p.m. to discharge 70 cubic meters per second of water.
