    Excerpt
The Philippine Coast Guard reported Thursday that more leaks on the MT Princess Empress have been plugged and the oil spill may be put under control earlier than expected. Still, the oil belonging to San Miguel Corp. that had leaked from the vessel has already wrought havoc on the local marine ecosystems, according to environmental groups like Save the Verde Island Passage. The groups have demanded stiff penalties for the conglomerate.
