The advisory, released on November 27, 2024, warns against shellfish, particularly Alamang or Hipon, from the affected area to prevent poisoning caused by red tide. “To safeguard human lives, this advisory is issued as a precautionary measure to the public to refrain from gathering, selling, and eating all types of shellfishes and Acetes sp. Locally known as “Alamang or Hipon” from Balite Bay in Mati City, Davao Oriental to avoid possible poisoning,” the office said.en
