The provincial government of Negros Occidental is bracing for the El Niño phenomenon that is expected to hit the country in the last quarter of this year and the first quarter of 2016. Sangguniang Panlalawigan will have a committee hearing on Sept. 23 with Provincial Agriculturist Igmedio Tabianan, Provincial Veterinarian Renante Decena and Provincial Engineer Ernie Mapa. The resource persons will discuss the measures the provincial government may apply to mitigate the impact of a long drought in the province, said Provincial Board member Victor Javellana, chair of the committee on agriculture.
