    Excerpt
Environmental and climate justice advocates belonging to Protect VIP on Monday urged President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. to thoroughly assess and address the first major environmental disaster confronting his administration. The group said that nearly marking its fifth month, the oil spill that has reached the Verde Island Passage, has so far disrupted the livelihood of hundreds of thousands of people and is causing billions in damages. Worse, they said, the oil spill may have caused harm to the world’s most bio diverse marine habitat.
