    Excerpt
Fisherfolk group Pambansang Lakas ng Kilusang Mamamalakaya ng Pilipinas (Pamalakaya) has demanded an end to fish importation this year, saying the continuous imports impact local production to the detriment of the fisheries sector. “We reassert that importation must end this year and in the coming years. Instead, the government must strengthen local production through subsidy and other livelihood support as well as securing the exclusive rights of Filipino fishers in their fishing grounds and coastal communities,” Pamalakaya national spokesman Ronnel Arambulo said.
