Seafood desired by many who love to eat well in the country includes the giant freshwater prawn (Macrobrachium rosenbergii), commonly known as ulang in Tagalog and Udang in Ilocano. According to the Philippine Council for Agriculture, Aquatic and Natural Resources Research and Development of the Department of Science and Technology the ulang is native to tropical countries in the Asia-Pacific region and is a delicacy to Filipinos.
