    Excerpt
A former representative in the agriculture sector has slammed the planned importation of 60,000 metric tons (MT) of scad fish (galunggong) and mackerel of the Department of Agriculture (DA) despite an ample supply of fish in the country. Agriculture Secretary William Dar has recently announced a need to import 60,000 MT of small pelagic fish to meet the demand for the first quarter due to the damage incurred by the fishery sector from typhoon “Odette” in December last year.
