The Philippine government is set to receive $20 million or P1.104 billion in financial aid from the United States government to be used in mitigating the oil spill brought by the sunken MT Princess Empress in Oriental Mindoro. During a joint press conference in Washington, the country’s Department of National Defense interim chief Carlito Galvez Jr. said the amount from the US will be used for the oil spill response, proving that the two countries have strong alliances.
