    Excerpt
All varieties of shellfish and Acetes sp., commonly known as alamang or hipon, from specific coasts in Western Visayas are still deemed unsafe for human consumption. Recent samples collected from Panay, Pilar, President Roxas, Ivisan, Sapian, and Roxas City in Capiz; Mambuquiao and Camanci in Batan, Aklan; and Gigantes Island, Carles in Iloilo, have tested positive for paralytic shellfish poison (PSP) or toxic red tide.
