Five sites in the Philippines, including the Tubbataha Reefs Natural Park (TRNP), have been named among candidates for a marine protected area (MPA) management project in the Asean to be implemented by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). The TRNP, a popular diving destination in Palawan, is a United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization World Heritage Site, an Asean Heritage Park, and a known sea bird sanctuary.
