The Philippines should boost the production of export winner "agar agar" seaweed to create jobs and alternative rural livelihood while generating export receipts of about $200 million yearly. During the Philippine Chamber of Agriculture and Food Inc's (PCAFI) Agri 2022 forum, Presidential Aspirant Francisco "Isko Moreno" Domagoso said agar agar production should be raised considering the Philippines' rich coastal areas. Agar is used as an ingredients in desserts throughout Asia and as a solid substrate to contain culture media for microbiological work.
