    Excerpt
The government is finalizing a gasoline discount program to help Filipino fishermen, especially those fishing in the West Philippine Sea (WPS), ease their expenses following the series of oil price hikes due to volatile global markets, the Department of Agriculture (DA) said. Agriculture Undersecretary for Agri-Industrialization and for Fisheries Cheryl Marie Natividad-Caballero said the continuous increase in gasoline price is burdensome to Filipino fishermen, especially since fuel accounts for 50 percent of their operational costs.
