Cagdianao Mining Corporation (CMC) turned over a P5.6-Million ice plant and cold storage facility to the members of GAAS Dinagat Fishermen Cooperative (GADIF-CO) in barangay Legaspi, Cadianao, Province of Dinagat Islands, on Thursday (September 19). The newly-minted facility, a proud first in the mining industry in Caraga Region, is funded by the mining company's Social Development Management Program (SDMP). Fishermen from Cagdianao town would need blocks of ice to preserve freshly-caught fish; they used to source these from distant Surigao City, a two-hour travel by boat, or from Placer, also a three-hour boat ride away.en
