    Excerpt
Pilar town mayor Arnold Perez issued an executive order officially declaring 6.9 hectares of the shore in Barangay San Ramon as a municipal beach forest – the first of its kind in Capiz. The declaration coincide with the two-week celebration of the town’s Tagbuan Festival, 157th founding anniversary and Municipal Environment and Natural Office (MENRO) Day that kicked off on May 29 and would end on June 12 (the town’s annual fiesta). According to the Facebook page Bangon Pilar, the celebration is not just having fun but also giving focus to the vital environmental program of the municipality. The designated beach forest area will be preserved and conserved in a bid to help mitigate the effects of climate change and protect the native flora and fauna of Capiz.
