Twenty-seven representatives from the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) and the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) participated in the training for coral reef crime scene investigation (CSI) and law enforcement, according to the United States Embassy in the Philippines. The embassy said the training focused on environmental law enforcement issues, including coral reef crime scene investigation, marine wildlife crime forensics, oil spills, and marine and coastal pollution. The training was provided for by the US Agency for International Development (USAid). Under USAid's Sustainable Interventions for Biodiversity, Oceans and Landscapes (Sibol) project, the participants attended lectures by international experts and gained practical experience through diving sessions that simulated responses to environmental crime scenarios. The scenarios included the destruction of coral reefs due to vessel grounding, blast fishing and poaching.en
