PEZA calls for agro-industrial, aquamarine ecozones on gov't land

The Philippine Economic Zone Authority (PEZA) said 12 million hectares of government land needs to be tapped for agro-industrial and aquamarine economic zones (ecozones), to address the looming food crisis. PEZA Director-General Charito B. Plaza said in a statement on Thursday that “For years, we have been hearing of plans for production and food sufficiency, yet we continue to be an import and consumption-dependent economy, despite the millions of hectares of idle land.”
