A viable solution to the country's worsening food problem may lie in an artificially-spawned Chinese carp here which, for a measly investment of P4,800, can produce in six months time almost 1,500 kilograms of fish worth P50,000. Scientists of the Southeast Asian Fisheries Development Center (SEAFDEC) at its Binangonan Research Station (BRS) in Tapao Point off this town have successfully induced a highly prolific fish specie to lay eggs all year round under artificial conditions. Through an "Induced spawning or breeding" technology adopted from the People's Republic of China, the center, for the past two years, has found success in inducing the bighead carp to lay as many as 175,000 eggs at a time while in captivity.en
