Pork, beef and chicken are main sources of protein. Unfortunately, rising prices have put them beyond the reach of the average housewife who has to make do with a limited budget. Soybeans and vegetables which are cheaper are a good substitute but don't provide the satisfaction that one gets from eating meat. This leaves fish as the only alternative to the harried housewife looking for cheap but delicious sources of protein.
