The entry of any imported shrimp or prawn species, even from places other than Taiwan, should not be allowed by the Government, a top official of the Southeast Asian Fisheries Development Center-Aquaculture Department (SEAFDEC-AQD) told BusinessWorld. Flor Lacanilao, SEAFDEC-AQD chief, warned that any wildlife species, especially aquatic species, are considered potential carriers of either known or unknown diseases which may adversely affect local aquatic life.
