The Southeast Asian Fisheries Development Center (SEAFDEC) Aquaculture Department based in Tigbauan, Iloilo has expressed concern over the careless destruction of fish habitats which has diminished the fishery resources of the country. These habitats, which include mangroves, coral reefs and seagrass beds, serve as spawning, breeding nursing and feeding grounds of many commercially important fish species.
