Here's another first in local fisheries research: The snapper, locally known as maya-maya, has been induced to spawn in captivity. The feat was achieved by Dr. Arnil Emata, associate scientist of the Tigbauan, Iloilo-based Southeast Asian Fisheries Development Center Aquaculture Department (SEAFDEC-AQD).
